At Vesivek, occupational safety is a central part of our operations, management, and daily work. A safe work environment is built on a strong safety culture, clear operating procedures, continuous improvement, and the commitment of the entire staff to shared practices. The goal is to ensure a safe work environment for employees, residents, and everyone in the vicinity of the construction site.
For us safety is non-negotiable
At Vesivek, we take responsibility for our own safety, that of our coworkers, and the safety of the immediate surroundings of the worksite. Everyone has a duty to address safety violations, deficiencies, and hazardous situations. We are determined to develop our occupational safety culture, and our long-term commitment to safety is reflected in the continuous improvement of safety standards and a reduction in the accident rate.
Our safety culture also includes supporting our employees’ work ability and well-being, which is why Vesivek actively promotes the overall well-being and physical fitness of its staff.
Thorough orientation is an essential part of safe work practices, and the foundation of our safety culture is laid during the orientation phase. We provide both general orientation and site-specific orientation to ensure that work is carried out safely in various work environments. Employees are trained to identify high-risk tasks and the specific risks associated with them.
Operating Models and Safe Work Practices
Standard operating procedures for safe work have been established for all tasks. These standardized procedures improve safety on the construction site and in its surroundings and ensure that work is carried out safely at every stage of the project.
For example, in roof renovations, crane-assisted installation methods and scaffolding are used to prevent falls, while in drainage system renovations, safety when working in excavations is ensured through a comprehensive and meticulous excavation plan. Vesivek is the only company that uses scaffolding for all roofing projects, including single-family homes.
Developments and Goals in Occupational Safety
The accident rate has declined steadily in recent years. This trend is driven by long-term safety management, a strong safety culture, effective orientation, and safety planning and monitoring. Vesiveki’s goal is to achieve an accident rate of 30, and the current rate of 33 (as of April 2026) is already well below the construction industry average (approximately 53).
Our goals are “Get home safe today,” an accident frequency rate of 30 by 2026, and continuous progress toward zero accidents.
Safe work methods and site-specific solutions support the achievement of these goals. For example, the scaffolding used in roof installations protects residents from falling materials and provides installers with a safe and ergonomic work environment.
Our safety level is clearly above the industry average.
Occupational Safety Management and Monitoring
Vesivek’s management takes occupational safety seriously. The company prioritizes occupational safety by investing in and systematically developing it. Occupational safety matters are regularly discussed at management meetings, and management actively monitors the achievement of established occupational safety goals. In addition, representatives of unit management visit job sites on a weekly basis.
Through management’s commitment, the company ensures that the entire organization is committed to workplace safety, that operating models and systems support safe working practices, and that each individual promotes safety by setting a personal example.
Accidents, near-misses, and hazard and safety observations are recorded, reported, and investigated, and necessary corrective actions are taken based on these findings.
Certified Quality and Environmental Responsibility
At Vesivek, quality is a key focus of continuous monitoring and improvement. Vesivek was the first company in its industry to receive quality management system certification (ISO 9001) in 2016. At its core are management systems, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement. The environmental certification (ISO 14001) was awarded in the spring of 2025 to Vesivek Tuotteet and HLRE Group.
The ISO 9001:2015 quality certification covers all operations of Vesivek Oy, Vesivek Salaojat Oy, and Vesivek Tuotteet Oy, as well as the companies’ shared operations within HLRE Group Oy.

Cooperation in Safety Development
Vesivek is working with its customers to develop a new approach to safety for working at heights. With our roof safety solutions, we ensure safety when working at heights and also safeguard the area surrounding the property.
In addition, our Roof Safety Partnership service offers property owners a clear and systematic operating model to ensure safety and regulatory compliance when working at heights.
Vesivek requires that subcontractors operate in accordance with the same values and operating models. The development of safety and operating practices is based on collaboration with our own staff, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. This collaboration promotes the continuous improvement of safety in the construction and property maintenance sectors.
