Don’t ruin a good roof with poor-quality accessories. Ladders, snow guards, and other roof safety products play a major role in the overall quality and functionality of a roof. Developing high-quality roofing products requires not only technical expertise and continuous testing, but also practical experience with installations. And Vesivek has been accumulating that experience for over 40 years.
Laws and Regulations Concerning Roof Safety

What should a property owner keep in mind regarding roof safety?
The purpose of roof safety products is to ensure safe movement on the roof and to prevent hazards caused by snow and ice. The law requires property owners to ensure that the roof has safe walkways and appropriate roof safety products.
Ladders, roof walkways, snow guards, and other roof safety products that comply with regulations make maintenance work easier, improve safety, and reduce risks around the property.
Properly sized and installed products also help ensure that the building meets current safety requirements.
The Most Common Deficiencies in Roof Safety
Ladders or walkways are in poor condition or poorly secured
Poor condition or inadequate fastening of roof safety equipment increases the risk of slipping, tripping, and falling when climbing onto the roof.
It is not safe to move around on the roof to access maintenance areas
Inadequate access routes make it difficult to move around and make access to maintenance sites unsafe.
There are too few snow guards, or they have been installed incorrectly
Inadequate snow guards can cause snow and ice to fall uncontrollably from the roof.
Gables, skylights, and penetrations are unprotected
Unprotected areas increase the risk of damage caused by falling snow and ice.

Check the Safety of Your Roof with a Condition Inspection. The Service Is Free for Residential Properties

Climbing onto the roof
The inspection examines the condition and mounting of wall-mounted ladders. Wall-mounted ladders are required by law on all properties where chimney sweeping or other maintenance work is performed on the roof.

Roof Walkways
The inspection covers roof access routes, including roof stairs, roof ladders, and roof walkways. These must be properly installed and provide a safe and unobstructed route to maintenance points on the roof, such as the chimney.

Snow Fences
Pathways and entrances in the yard should be protected from falling snow; however, the safest option is to always install snow guards along the entire length of the roof. Our roof safety experts will inspect whether the snow guards are correctly sized and installed and whether the fastenings are secure.

Rainwater System
The condition and functionality of the stormwater system will also be inspected.

Emergency Exits
Buildings with more than two stories must have emergency exits to provide an alternative escape route from upper-floor windows and balconies.

Reporting
You’ll receive a written condition report that explains the findings to the customer in plain language and includes photographs. If you’d like, you can get a fixed-price “turnkey” quote should any renovation needs arise.
